Didier Murat hails from the Rhône-Alpes region of France, where he grew up with a famously chewy, aromatic nougat called Nougat de Montélimar. He began making it initially for friends and family as Christmas gifts. After he moved to Vermont by way of New York City, a friend who owned a chocolate shop offered to sell it. Soon after, Vadeboncoeur was born.“It's a very small operation. I have adapted it to what one person could do by hand. If I would have to use mechanical mixers, it wouldn't be the same product.”
